My name is Istvan Bujdoso and this is The 47 Marketing Show. And now, let’s talk about the rest of the BIGGEST Targeting Mistakes That Make Lead Generation And Sales Fail… 

Mistake number six, Not knowing well enough the desires of your target audience… 

I picked this up from the “Expert Secrets” book by Russell Brunson. Most people miss that there are two types of desires: EXTERNAL desires and INTERNAL desires… 

The EXTERNAL desires of your target audience are usually easy to see, people are willing to share it… 

For example, desires like they want to lose weight or they want to make more money or they want to get more clients. You know, these types of desires, right? 

But that is just the surface behind the EXTERNAL desires there are always INTERNAL ones… 

And the easiest way to discover your target audience’s INTERNAL desires is to ask some of them ONE simple question 5-6 times. That simple question is: WHY? 

Just imagine a conversation like this. For example, they want to lose weight. Just ask them, “Why?” “Because, I want to be healthy.” “Why?” “Because, I want to live long.” 

“Why?” “Well, I want to be there for my children and grandchildren.” “Why?” “Because my grandparents were always there for me and we had many amazing memories together… 

… and I want that beautiful experience for my grandchildren as well.” “Why?” “Because I want them to know that I love them.” 

Can you see how this type of conversation shows a very different angle of somebody’s desires? Different people in your target audience will phrase their INTERNAL desires differently… 

But the essence of their INTERNAL desires are usually related to: love, security, or status or all three of them… 

Knowing well enough the desires of your target audience will help you reach out to them differently, build a relationship and trust with them quicker… 

And then, turn them into leads and clients easier. Does this make sense? 

Mistake number seven, Not knowing multiple WHYs of your target audience. This is an awesome insight from the “Copywriting Secrets” book by Jim Edwards. People buy when they have WHY… 

Every person can have multiple WHYs and different people have different WHYs… 

And that’s why if you only focus on ONE WHY of your target audience in your lead generation and sales, you’re going to miss out a lot of opportunities and can even lead to failure… 

When you tie your services and products to multiple WHYs, you can reach your audience from different angles. Maybe even from a unique angle that even your competitors don’t think about… 

Can you see how that make a HUGE positive impact on your lead generation and sales? Here’s a few common examples of WHY: Make money, Save money, Save time, Avoid effort, Escape pain… 

… Get more comfort, Achieve better health, Gain praise, Feel more loved, and Increase social status… 

The easiest way to use these is to ask yourself how your services and products can give these to your target audience… 

For example, how your services can help them to make money or save money or how much time your services can save them. Does that make sense? 

Can see how knowing multiple WHYs of your target audience will help you to get more leads and make more sales? 

Mistake number eight, Not showing your target audience what you’re fighting for and fighting against. People come, they show interest in your services, some turn into leads, a few even into your clients… 

But no matter what stage they are in, as soon as they lose interest in your services, they leave and may never come back… 

Knowing what you fighting for and fighting against, and communicating that to your target audience will help you to build a stronger relationship with them quicker and INDEPENDENTLY from your services… 

That results in more of your target audience sticking with you longer and that both will help you with your lead generation and sales. Does that make sense?

Mistake number nine, Not knowing your target audience better than they know themselves. You might be thinking how is that even possible… 

As not everybody in your target audience is aware of ALL the problems, questions, and roadblocks they can have… 

When you’re constantly researching your target audience, sooner or later, generally, you end up knowing more about them than they know about themselves… 

From every comment, forum post, conversation with people, review, survey, and so on, you can pick up a new detail, a phrase they use… 

… or see the pattern of their problems, questions, roadblocks and the results they want… 

By using that in-depth knowledge, you can create better videos, emails, posts, sales letters, and so on, using the same phrases they use… 

 

And that can be the deciding factor of they choosing you instead of your competitors in a lot of cases. Are you getting this? 

Mistake number ten, Not using an avatar of your target audience… 

Online, you can reach out to millions of people but on the other side, ALWAYS one individual at a time is looking at your landing page, your ad, your email, your sales letter, and so on, not a crowd… 

For example, John is reading your email on his phone ALONE or Mary’s looking at your landing page on her laptop ALONE. You’re getting the point, right? 

An avatar helps you to imagine you’re writing to a specific individual, recording a video to a specific individual and so on. Also, an avatar does more than that… 

It keeps the psychographics of your target audience in your mind. Their problems, their questions, their roadblocks, the results they want, and so on while you’re creating your contents… 

So when the individuals of target audience read your copies, watch your videos, they can feel it’s talking to them on a deeper and more personal level. Are you getting this?
